Limitations
A dry brush only handles surface dust. It won’t shift the grime in a dirty used record’s grooves.
Crate-dug soul and funk records have often spent decades in basements or at parties. A single wet clean when you bring one home usually makes a real difference to surface noise. Manual bath-style cleaners are the affordable option.

Limitations
Slower and more hands-on than vacuum machines, and records need to dry fully before they go back in a sleeve. Change the fluid regularly, or you’re just moving dirt around.
The stylus picks up grime from every record. A dirty stylus sounds dull and distorted and wears records faster. Clean it gently, back to front, every few sessions.

Original paper inner sleeves can scuff records and shed fibres. Anti-static inner sleeves are an easy upgrade for anything you care about, especially used finds. Clear outer sleeves protect the cover art from shelf wear. Keep the original printed inner sleeve with the record, in the outer sleeve, if it has credits or artwork.
