Privacy policy
Last updated September 28, 2026. The short version: no advertising trackers, no cookies of our own, and only aggregate, cookieless visit statistics.
What we collect
- Aggregate visit statistics. Our network provider, Cloudflare, adds its Web Analytics script to our pages. Cloudflare describes it as privacy-first: it doesn’t use cookies or local storage to identify visitors, and we see only aggregate figures such as page views, referrers and page-load performance.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking. The site doesn’t use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or similar tools, and sets no cookies of its own.
- Server logs. Like almost every website, our web host and our network provider (Cloudflare) automatically record technical request data, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting and keeping the site running, and are kept according to those providers’ retention periods.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your address and message and use them only to reply. We don’t add you to any list.
Fonts and third-party requests
Our fonts and other page assets are served from our own domain. Apart from Cloudflare’s analytics script described above, pages don’t load content from third parties, including ad or social networks.
Affiliate links
Some links in our gear guides go to Amazon.com and include our Associates tag. When you click one, you leave our site, and Amazon may set cookies to attribute any qualifying purchase to us. Amazon’s own privacy notice governs what happens on their site. We receive reports of qualifying purchases and commissions from Amazon, not information that identifies you.
Cloudflare
Traffic to this site passes through Cloudflare, which provides security and performance services and may set strictly necessary cookies to protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.
Your choices and rights
Because we don’t build profiles or keep personal data beyond email correspondence, there’s little to access or delete. If you’ve emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, ask at [email protected].
Children
The site is intended for a general audience and doesn’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we add anything that changes this picture (for example, a newsletter or a different analytics service), we’ll update this page before it goes live and change the date above.
